Art Gallery

The Art Gallery choose to focus in a very traditional medium and display paradigm. That of 2d work , mostly prints and 3D work in which the only example was by ....... which was a video installation.

The reaction I saw from the Siggraph savy was "boring". These computer literate types crave the hands on interactivity enabled by today's toys and the "blast to the past" offered by the gallery was not enough to satisfy this hunger. However, in judging the show I put on my art critical hat and ignored the need for computer interaction which tugged at my brain.

I was familiar with several of the artists and was very happy to see the work of Diane Fenster in person, more enjoyable was the opportunity to meet my fellow Art on the Net member in person and talk briefly about her work. It was through her that I discovered that the purpose of the exhibition was to focus on artists with a strong body of work in the area of print.

In this respect, the gallery was showing off some of the finest quality computer prints which the technology offered. Diane's large scale prints where strong in color, composition and paper quality.
