Crumbs: A Tracking Tool for Biological Imaging Crumbs is a virtual environment application which allows scientists to explore and measure three dimensional instrumental data. Crumbs provides users with a toolchest for rendering and measurement. These tools include: a colormap and opacity editor. a volume rendering icon which allows any number of boxes to be instantiated, each of which volume render the location of the dataset which they intersect. a slice plane icon which allows any number of opaque slice planes to be placed at any orientation in the dataset. crumbs which are cubic spline nodes that the user positions along fibers of interest. The computer reports the arc length of the total curve. a spline plane which is a single opaque plane which is orthogonal to the crumbs curve. access to image processing software on remote supercomputers. a garbage can for removing unwanted crumbs, volume rendering boxes, and slice planes.
