Anee-- It is good to hear from you again. We met a couple of years ago when you visited NCSA. I hope that, while hectic, things are going well.

We have our own system here for accounting and account management. This is typically true of most HPC centers since there seems only to be vendor-specific solutions for this. There is some work that have been done to standardize on parts of this in the Open Grid Forum that we have leveraged, particularly in our TeraGrid-wide accounting system.

It might be best if we could have a brief phone teleconference to discuss your needs and we can see what we might have to help out.

-John

Anne,

It is good to hear from you. I can understand the ‘incredibly hectic schedules’ since I am in the same boat here! (Next week we are hosting PRAGMA 13 Workshop & the First PRAGMA Institute at NCSA with an expected attendance of ~150 people from around the Pacific Rim and a few other countries.)

By way of this message I am introducing you to John Towns and Mike Pflumacher who are in charge of our Production Faclities, User Services etc.
They will be able to assist you.

John/Mike, Anne is a long-term affiliate of ours from Cornell, UK eScience etc.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Radha

Hi Radha
I hope this note finds you well. Sorry we haven’t been in touch for a while, things have been incredibly hectic.

We are setting up an HPC facility here at Oxford University. I want to have an accounting system that allows us to give users allocations and then provide them with information regarding the amount of allocation that is left etc – to enable a simple charging mechanism. Can you tell me who I could speak to at NCSA about the systems that you use? If there is an off the shelf system we can use that would be great but so far we haven’t been able to find one! We have a collection of different machine architectures and so needs something that is machine neutral.

Many thanks for the help,

anne
